Frequently asked questions
Where do the prices come from?
Prices come from shelf labels that users scan in store. Every price is recorded against a store branch and a time, which is why the app also shows you how fresh the data is.
Is it free?
Scanning, basket tracking, lists and basic price comparison are free. Full price history, unlimited alerts, cheapest basket and route suggestions are part of Pro.
Do I have to share my location?
No. Location is only requested while you use the app, to work out which store you are in. Without it you can pick the store from a list. Your precise location is never shared with other users.
What if a price is wrong?
Every price shows when it was seen. You can report a wrong price from inside the app, and when you scan your receipt we catch shelf-versus-till differences for you.
What can family members see?
You grant permission separately for shared lists, shopping history, price alerts and the household budget. By default only shared lists and history are on.
Are you affiliated with the retailers?
No. PriceTrue is not affiliated with any retailer, and prices are community observations rather than official store data.
